Dave,
In a nutshell I avoided all foods/drinks that caused UC symptoms, which meant no foods containing processed sugars and no sodas, fruit punch, cookies, fruits, etc. In addition to this I did colon hydrotherapy at the request of a nutritionist, but I don't recommend this for colons that have a lot of damage; besides I believe the diet had the bigger impact. My gastroenterologist was in shock when he did the colonoscopy because he had never seen anything like it before; after a few days of following this diet and maintaining my vitamins/minerals, my energy levels increased as well. I have also found that 30 mins on a treadmill before bed helps to reduce UC symptoms as well, but this is in my case.

Hm, I feel like for the large majority of people it would make a big change but in my case I've been eating 'ridiculously' healthy for the past 5-6 years so there's not much else I could change lol. Other than taking out oatmeal since it might contain gluten as mentioned previously in the thread. You mentioned fruits, which one's specifically caused you issues? Just wondering because I haven't heard of fruit being an issue for most people...i would guess the more acidic ones.
What did the colon hydrotherapy involve? I just googled it and it seems like there are various methods.
