I had been thinking to keep this for myself until I have verified for a longer time... I do not want to lead people into a ditch. However, because of this topic, I think I need to write something.
I have had a lot of problem because of gas. Sharts has been very common for me. The diet change I did completely changed this part, and it feels like I am on my way to get better.
Shortly: It looks like indeed diet has effect. I am not a raw vegan, but I am trying to follow the rules (in a bit loose way) from this site: http://www.rawfoodexplained.com/digestive-physiology-and-food-combining/food-combining-rules.html (basically Hay diet)
I noticed immediately that my gas problem disappeared. When I begun this change, I had almost two days without a need to go to the toilet. This was because I had the intestine almost completely empty as everything was blown out by gas. It took some time to fill it again. I could even verify before that food got blown out sometimes in just two hours from that I had been eating. Now I have still about
4 bowl moments each day, but I even start to get some consistence in my poop and I do not get out more than at most one meal at the time with the rest still in the intestine.
There are basically 4 short rules I am following (the site has some more and complicated):
1. When you eat concentrated proteins (soy, nuts), eat it with no-starchy veggies (and do not mix in anything else)
2. When you eat starchy food, eat them with other starchy food and/or no-starchy veggies (and do not mix in anything else)
3. Eat fruits in a separate meal, and melon does not combine with any other fruits
4. Avoid adding much fats to the food, and add in moderation when needed (good fats like olive oil, flax-seed oil etc, nuts already have very much fats, so does avocado and other food eaten)
(I am vegan, not raw vegan like the site suggest, so I omitted meat, eggs and milk from my rules as I anyway do not eat them)
Well, it is still too early to say how my diet change is working, but I will, as I have been intending, write a report later when I feel confident enough to write. All I can say is that it is looking like worth giving some try for somebody not afraid of a ditch. For me this has been working better than SCD.
(That site I linked to has also a lot of other information, some really good, some I consider to be rubbish).
