Check it out. There are various events taking place to raise awareness of UC and Crohns in different countries around the word.

lets all sing kumbaya and realize that until there's a shipload of money to be made, UC/CD will relegated to the backwater of illnesses.
On the upside, Voque recently ran an article that called CD a "trendy" disease, whoo hoo!

Vogue prolly thinks CD is trendy because of the chance of rapid weight loss.

Sounds heartless to say, but not until more people get this disease, will they begin to understand how debilitating it actually is and how much more attention it really deserves next to other diseases. I feel wrong for asking, but is cancer of any sort this painful?

I think really late stage cancer is pretty painful. And, I don't see how CD is trendy. Like, at all. I guess poop is pretty popular though.

Yeah i had no idea either. Still I think it's a good thing. More public awareness can only be a good thing right?

Yes, absolutely, I would LOVE to see more public awareness. Now that I know that May 19th is our own special IBD day, I will be on the lookout locally to see if it's publicized in any way.

I looked up the website to see what is happeneing in Australia. It said something about
the 'Can't wait' program and how they are encouraging business owners and restaurants to show their support by displaying stickers 'Can't wait' to allow IBDers to use restrooms whenever they need to.
i had to scoff at that!!! Is that the best the IBD association can do?
I think i might call them and give a big BOOOO. Like seriously, dude, people are losing their lives, marriages, social lives, friends, children, jobs...etc every day because of this ****d up disease and the best they can do is allow toilet access.
If we continue along with this bullc**p then i think we seriously kiss the chance of finding a cure good bye.
