trojen, no i didn't have my donor tested. her doctor wouldn't do it. i am pretty sure she does not have any diseases.

killcolitis, i am definitely going to pick up some tylenol and i left a message at my doctor's office about an anti-spasmodic drug. i hope she gets back to me by at least next week (usually takes her a month or so). i am going to keep calling until i get something.

somedude, my doctor said humira was next on my list of drugs to try. i told her i wanted to do FT first and if that didnt work, she said she wanted me on that. i honestly don't know a lot about the drug as i haven't read about it yet. but yeah, remicade stopped working after 5 infusions.

cure4uc, my prednisone reaction was really bad. it was the IV pred for 7 days and then oral pred for 3.5 months. i had to use a walker most of that time, couldn't bathe myself, brush my hair, climb steps, or get up from the couch. i had gained 40 lbs of water and that's why i couldn't lift my limbs by myself. now i have permanent neuropathy in my feet. i can't imagine what taking it again would do to me. i know my grandma would gimme her extra walker again but i'd just rather not need to ask for it.

i didn't go to the hospital just because i ended up falling asleep around 4 am. got 5 hours of sleep and i did another FT this morning. i only held it for 3 hours but at least i held it that long. i rubbed some peppermint oil on my belly and i'm hoping that will get absorbed and calm my gut down.

 

Great to see you back! We were all worried about you. That's good that you were able to get some sleep. I was told that FT was a rollercoaster ride at times and you are certainly experiencing that. The fact that you did a FT when you work up is very dedicated. Most people would have given up at that point.
Are you mixing anything in with the donor poo?

edbar, what i did different today was strain the poop. the past 3 times, i just had a mixture of psyllium husk, saline, and the poop. this time, i had the same mixture but after blending, i strained it. this made it go in much easier for me because i was having problems getting the contents into my colon. i really am going to stick to it though! i am a strong person and i have a pretty high threshold for pain since getting UC (don't we all?). that's why last night i was just in shock at how much my gut hurt. it hadn't hurt like that since the last time i was in the hospital (that's why i got really scared).

killcolitis, wow what a recovery! that is going to happen to me, too. it just has to. yeah, i was looking online for any OTC anti spasm meds and i can't find any. i think that would help me a lot and make me retain the FT longer. imodium didn't do a thing for me- i don't think it's strong enough.

Glad to hear your hanging in there Bananagirl. I really do believe it is a battle going on in your gut. After much research and many conversations with other FTers, I believe this battle will take time based on severity of disease. The initial phase is probably the toughest. The severe cramping you feel may simply be the die off symptoms as they gas out and expire. Let's hope, you'll be feeling better soon. That said, thanks so much for keeping us posted...your info is extremely important to many people needing help. Thoughts and Prayers!

All FTers:  What is the importance of the saline?  We never used it. 

Day 6, FT #5.

Still waiting to see any signs of improvement! my diarrhea is increasing a lot as well as pain and frequency still. I am beginning to miss my lucky 8 bathroom trips a day with little cramping and no diarrhea. I think I am going to do 5 more FTs and if there isn't one bit of something letting up, then I don't think this treatment will help me. I haven't talked to anybody who gets this much worse from doing FT.

And of course, I called my gastro's office again today only to hear "We are closed for the rest of the week and will be back sometime next week."

This is pretty common though which is terrible for that office's patients, meaning ME. I so regret changing doctors from the one I had over a year ago. I ended up calling my regular family doctor and have an appointment in the morning. She writes a prescription for anything and everything so Bentyl should be a breeze to get. I might ask for something strong for the diarrhea, too, if Bentyl isn't designed for that. I've never taken it but I talked to my friend (he's a pharmacist) and says Bentyl should help.

This is simply unprofessional on your doctor's part. Did she examine you, does she think you don't need any meds under the circumstances? You should go to urgent care or just walk in to emergency. How many times are you going? You could try asking to an online GI, for very minimal price they could recommend some thing or some suggestion.
I hope you are doing better than yesterday.

cure4uc, my primary care physician is just a total moron. i asked her about bentyl and she said she'd never heard of it. that didn't stop her from giving me a prescription for VSL last time even though she hadn't heard of that either. i dont think she is educated at all on medicines. i know bentyl is a common medicine for IBS. i ended up getting in touch with another nurse at the GI practice. she gave me a script no problem and i got it filled last night- 3 months worth thank god.

the bentyl is like a major sedative for me. it's calmed my cramps a little too. i did a fecal transplant this morning and i have no pains so far. i was able to get a little more sleep last night and will probably go to bed early again tonight.

tomorrow i am not looking forward to. we are having a big family brunch party for mother's day. about 15 people are coming over and i hope nobody uses the upstairs bathroom! i usually do my FT around 11:30 am and that's when the party starts so i will be laying on the bathroom floor for the whole party. we don't have a lock on the bathroom door and my little cousins i'm sure will search the house looking for me!

somedude, i can already see that happening!! i usually am the fun cousin that plays and does gymnastic tricks so it will definitely be noticeable when i'm not downstairs. hopefully my mother will just say i'm incapicated or something haha

edbar, things are still the same but luckily i have bentyl now. hoping it kicks in to help more with my pain. i also have terriman clay coming in on monday to take as well.

What is going on with you? How are you doing? Are the FTs starting to work yet?

I am glad you are a little better. If you feel Terramin clay is helping, slowly increase the dose. Go to my thread and read about different ways you can take it. You do not have to drink a whole glass of the clay water at once, just sip on it little by little. It really helped to reliee the pain and cramps for me. In fact this is the first thing I did notice that got better for me.

Hi Bananagirl I just wantedt to say I'm so proud of you doing the FT first of all and sticking with it! Anyone who can do this, I look up to! I hope you have remission for all of this you are going through! Keep writing I like to read your posts!
