I agree with Marianne. You cannot stop prednisone cold turkey. I had a girlfriend who suffered with Crohn's and was NOT told she couldn't stop the prednisone, so she did and it threw her into Addison's Disease.
Although my GI doctor did not like the idea of my being on prednisone when undergoing a colonoscopy, there were several times I had no choice because I would flare when I went off the drug and he would rather me be on prednisone than flaring when he did the scope. I can remember at least three times where I was in such a bad flare, he was afraid to go too far with the scope. So, I went all through that crap, drinking the Golightly, etc.....all for naught. After that, I just flat out refused to be scoped when in a flare.
I was also on the prednisone when I had my operation. My surgeon said it was better being on the prednisone (I could not go below 20 mgm before flaring) than him operating on me while I was in a flare. Soooooo glad to be off that poison. It has HORRIBLE side effects.
