Humira vs. Remicade

My 11 year old daughter diagnosed crohns 2010
2 small flares treated; prednisone, pentasa, remicade 2x not working.

We now have been hospitalized for our first time April 2012. Long stay. Not getting better. No blood transfusions or anything but not getting treated with any further meds above because docs state they did not work before. They suggest surgery. Removal of entire colon:( She is 11.
Has anyone found Remicade did not work for Colitis or Crohns and tried Humira? Docs state the are same drugs, work the so Humira will not work for her either.

Remicade: has rat protein and Humira does not - all Human. Seems like it is possible that one might work over the other???

Remicade didnt do much for me, even at 2 x dose, and I became allergic. Humira (at 2x dose) worked better for me and it worked for a year and a half but then I became allergic to it as well. Then I went into a remission while just on LDN and no other meds, although after 10+ months I have flared again and using some pred to tame that, so LDN may or may not have been my saviour- but the bottom line is that I do not trust docs who make sweeping statements such as "if one biologic fails you are toast" etc- things can twist and turn in this DD and skmwtimes all you need is something to buy some time.

Do try Humira! I became resistant to Remicade after just 8 months but did well on Humira for 1.5 years.

I also agree with IBDISTHEPITS in finding a pediatric GI or maybe a hospital more specialized in GI treatment, if you have the resources. I hope things turn around for your daughter soon! She should not be spending her youth in the hospital.
