I had a colonoscopy two Friday's ago and they doctor told me, as I was just coming back to reality, that I had left sigmoid UC and she prescribed me on Rowasa nightly and to come back June 12th for results of biopsy.
Now, having said that, I have taken the Rowasa for six days and only had one good day (and when I say good, I mean only six bm's full of blood). I am usually a healthy eater who runs four times a week. I can barely get enough energy to go to work and take care of my kids and no exercise. I hate the Rowasa! Hate is a nice word for it. I skipped one day and I slept all night and felt so much better, but of course my results were that I paid for it I guess. I find that there are cycles. Does that sound right? I see some people say good days, bad days.
I have a few questions:
1. How long does a flair up usually last?
2. Remission, is it possible to have it for long, long periods of time and do I need to stay on medication to be in remission?
3. I am an ex-smoker and some research I have read says if I start smoking again (which sound repulsive to me, but I AM DESPERATE) my symptoms will get better and I will be in remission sooner. Any suggestions?
4. Is there any types of diet I can do?
5. How will I know remission is soon? Just getting better for longer periods of time?
I could use all the advice I could get. I am totally in the dark about this. I can't believe this is happening to me. I eat right. I exercise. I quit smoking six years ago. I have two small children and an active lifestyle that does not have the time for this. I also have a job that requires me to be in the courtroom for long stints, which is becoming harder and harder to do!
HELP!!!
