Maybe a silly question but have to ask

How many of you have had a pet in your life prior to or during your battle with this disease? Or have you come into contact with any pets not being yours in the time you have had issues. I have to ask this as I think maybe I may have picked up my UC from my dog. He died back in spring of 2010 but as I look back he had alot of issue with diahrea and some blood in his stool. I had him on the doggie version of probiotics which helped some. My problems started with gut issues a little before he died now looking back. Can we shed any light on the possiblility of us getting a bacterial infection this way perhaps? So please chime in if you have or had a cat or a dog in the past or now during this struggle.

I know you can get Giardia from dogs.

I have 2 dogs, one is 14 and the other one is 12 years old. I have colitis for about 6 years. My dogs have not had any issues with their GI comparing to me. I personally blame a restoraunt in my UC, we ate there about 6 years ago and shortly after that I started to get blood in my stool.
If your dog had a bacterial infection like E. Coli, it is very possible that you got it from him.

not silly - I had a boxer and this is a breed with high risk of developing IBD
