Contrary to what killcolitis said, there is a ton of research and papers on worm therapy for colitis and other immune related disorders. I tried TSO for several years at great expense. It definitely dampened my UC somewhat, to a noticable degree, but to notice an effect I had to use double the recommended dose. Given that it merely reduced my symptoms and did not give me full remission, and given the enormous cost, I gave up on it eventually and tried other types of worms such as hookworm therapy and human whipworm therapy- which are not as clinically studied as TSO and are provided by worm therapy entrepreneurs who are living a bit on the legal edge- however these theraoies are much cheaper to try than TSO. Both of those however gave me chronic D but never dampened symptoms, so I eventually abandoned worm therapy altogether.
However, there are quite a few people on worm therapy forums now- see for example the helminthictherapy group at yahoo groups. There is also one on facebook. If you are interested, you should go there to browse and ask about
. My example, as you can see, was mixed. But they clearly interact with the immune system- when I was on worm therapy of any sort, including the TS ova, I was 100% free of hayfever symptoms- whereas off of worm therapy, once again I have to take zyrtek or claratin to survive approximately 2 months of early summer- and even then with some symptoms- whereas I was literally 100% hayfever free while on worms- not that that was the reason I tried them (it was jhst a side benefit).
