But it's not due to UC, it's because I'm pregnant! 

Tentative due date is March 6th, but I'll be having a c-section per my colorectal surgeon's advice that a vaginal birth could likely lead to incontinence because of my fistula.

For those of you that I'm friends with on FB, please don't say anything on there yet.  It's still a bit early to tell my boss, and while I'm not FB friends with him, I am friends with people he knows relatively well.

Congratulations, fruitgirl! May your UC remission be very, very long, and your pregnancy very easy. Every expecting mom is different, but I dealt with nausea by sucking on slices of lemon and sometimes on ginger candy. Unsweetened herbal ice tea with lemon also helped.

Sherry, Ben doesn't know yet. I'm only 4 weeks -- I tested at home Sunday morning (after having nausea from Thursday on), and got a positive, despite not having yet missed a period, then had to have a blood test at my OB's office on Monday to confirm the pregnancy before they'd schedule my first appointment. Since I'm still so early, we want to wait a few more weeks yet before telling him. We plan to record it when we tell him, because I'm expecting he'll be really excited!

Congratulations! Wish I had good advice for the nausea. I was so sick the first 3 months that I lost weight with my first and third pregnancies. The second pregnancy I was only woozy in the morning. I lived on ginger ale.

Hmm, I'm a guy, I wonder if I can get pregnant also. Maybe it will stop my colitis....cause I know taking "Apriso (Four 0.375 g pills once daily), Mesalamine enema" would be the same effect as eating skittles to me. nothing.

Anyways, congrats on the preg and the remission. :D

Somedude, you getting pregnant would be like pigs flying, I'm afraid. Unless you're genetically a female who prefers to live like a dude. ;)

The pregnancy didn't have much to do with my remission -- I've been in remission for just over three years now, which is why I felt comfortable getting pregnant. I'm actually hoping that it doesn't stir things up.

Hi fruitgirl...congratulations!!

Just don't take ginger supplements, they're contraindicated in pregnancy (don't exactly know why, however).

There are nausea bands you could try...no drugs..called Sea Bands. Worth a try regardless.

It would be awesome for you to go through this all without any setbacks regarding UC....but at least you know what to do!

I don't know if dicyclomine is OK during pregnancy....?

When I'm nauseated, I find eating small amounts of foods throughout the day helps nausea. The trick would be to find those foods...carbs are usually the best such as a piece of toast or crackers.

hope this part doesn't last too long.

Way cool! I agree with you about waiting to tell; you won't "show" for a while. What state are you resident in now? / Old Hat (31 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Thanks, all. The nausea seems to come and go. It was really bad last week on Thursday/Friday, then eased up and is pretty bad again today. Eating usually helps, but not today. Hopefully it doesn't get bad enough that I have issues with vomiting.

I was really nauseous with my second pregnancy - not so much my first. I lived on saltine crackers and rice cakes.

Are you going to post Ben's reaction on FB? I would so love to see that! :)

Sherry, maybe that means this baby is a girl! And yes, I'll post it on FB, assuming it's cute! One of my friend's daughters told her to "put it back" when she told her she was pregnant!

When I had Kate, Chris was 4 years old. I was in the kitchen preparing a bottle for Kate when she started screaming bloody murder. So I go out into the living, Chris is sitting next to her, his head was down and then he burst out into tears. I asked him what was wrong and he said he slapped her. I asked why and he said because she won't stop crying, he doesn't want her and to take her back to the hospital. He got into big trouble for slapping his newborn sister but now it's a funny story! LOL :)
