Diagnosed Feb 2012

I don't know how to explain my story that well. I woke up with extreme stomach pain one morning, after fighting it for 16 hours I decided to head to the ER. Hospitalized 5 days and diagnosed with UC. I took basic meds to get my flare down. The day I noticed I was getting better I decided to stop taking medicine. Every once and awhile I get some stomach pain but that's just from eating crappy foods and when I am stressed. Haven't been to a gastrologist or my dr since.

Do a lot of breathing exercises as well.

I guess I am looking for advice if I should keep doing what I am doing or go see a gastrologist?

I am clueless with this "situation".

xjosh, you really need to share more information. what medicines were you given that were 'basic?" How were you diagnosed? What do you know about the condition of yoru colon? Did you ever see a GI outside of the hospital?

People usually do not stay in remission by doing nothing. IBD can seem rather random, but it never truly goes away on its own. You risk colon cancer later in life, or even losing your colon altogether, if you choose to ignore this disease.
