How long should you keep using rectal meds after blood is gone? Still have urgency! Not bad . Going about 3 times a day. Afraid to stop . It's only been about 3 days. I know that's not long. Getting anxious.

what are you anxious about? You're seeing improvements, that's good, right?

It takes a long time to get rid of rectal inflammation IMO. You should not stop tapering the enemas until all of the major issues are gone.

Your right! Would love to not have to use them all the time. Hope it stays this way. I guess that's what I'm anxious about.You never know!

I agree with kazbern, do not stop the enemas right now. How long have you been on the hydrocort ones? Keep using them for at least another week nightly, then you might try to alternate the hydrocortisone with the mesalamine enemas, then use only the mesalamine. As many of us here suggest, the rectum is the last one to heal and you should not rush the rectal medication process.
