Are these water kefir grains or dairy kefir?

I'm interested in water kefir grains because I think I 'hurt' mine.

i am not familiar w the water kefir grains, although now i am interested since i think its the dairy thats bothering me, even lactose free......

how do you use the water keifr grains?

I would love to get some kefir grains if you still have any. I'll make a trade with you. I am also a coffee lover but it was hard on me due to uti's. Was introduced to a coffee that I love. It also seems to reduce my urge incontinence. Sorry if that is TMI (too much information) and turns you off.

This thread got me interested in making water kefir. Will order some grains tmr. I live in Australia so I won't be able to get your grains i_love_coffee. Pretty excited since store bought probiotics never helped me. Maybe this kefir will do the trick.

Max:  now i am interested in water kefir. store bought probiotics including 9 mos of vsl3ds never helped me either. dairy kefir has not helped my uc either but i have a strong suspicion it was the dairy. maybe water kefir will help :)

If you're in the states, you can get water kefir grains from Cultures For Health. I'm in Ontario, Canada and I got mine from Upayanaturals. You have to feed them sugar and minerals and let them ferment on your counter or cupboard, then you bottle it up and flavor it if you want to. Once fermented, you can bottle it up and let it get a bit effervescent (my favorite!) The taste is a lot like kombucha. I really enjoy it.

The grains are like clumpy jelly beans without color and they will multiply just like dairy kefir.

I was on quite a roll with mine and then one batch went bad (I think I used too much molasses) They are 'resting' in my fridge now (it's been two weeks). I tried to 'wake em up' once and didn't have any luck. I will try again in the next few days, otherwise, I have to order new ones.

Either website mentioned above, as well as youtube has lots of video tutorials about making it. It's supposedly not hard but I've been known to be challenged in the kitchen.

I absolutely used to love dairy kefir, especially if it was bubbly, but I don't seem to be tolerating dairy at the moment. I hope I get to have it again. Patience, patience!
