Those that follow food combining principles would say the key with fruit is to eat them separately away from other foods as they can cause fermentation when eaten with other slower digesting foods.
Some have with issues withe the levels of different sugars in some fruit i.e some fruit have more fructose than glucose which is one of the factors that eliminates them on the Low FODMAPs diet.
Personally I love fruit but have avoided them a lot lately but that is only through dietary advice (SCD/GAPS) and not based on any personal bad experience. I'm eating ripe bananas but am planning on eating a bit more fruit again.
