SS0000, what I use is called either psyllium husk or psyllium husk powder - same thing, depends on the brand. Technically though, husk/husk powder does not actually look like "powder." The husk/husk powder is somewhat flaky versus seed powder which is like flour. I've tried psyllium seed powder as folks said this had more of something beneficial, but I could never get it to blend well enough into the water I drank it with. I'd end up with huge clumps. The husk/husk powder gives me no such issues so my 'compliance' is 100%.
I don't let it sit -- I put it in the cup, add water, stir and chug it while it's all still swirling.
Then add more water and drink another two cups.
If you let it sit for even a little bit it starts to gel or clump up and I don't particularly like that...
