I'm so fed up and tired of all of this.
I just ordered a new pack of Cortisone I cannot take this anymore.
I wonder if there is a cheap generic Mesalazine enema but I don't know that stuff. I know Rowasa is not covered and cost me $200.
Can you stay on hydrocortisone longtime when it saves you from surgery?

Hydrocortisone as you know is a steroid and steroids are never to be used long term. The side effects are just too harmful. Sorry but there is no way to sugar coat that one.

I'm on the generic Rowasa enemas. They are still pricey if you don't have insurance.

Yes, they have a generic Rowasa. If you are having trouble paying for meds, look in our Resource section. Notsosicklygirl posted some great links to companies that are willing to help you.

Is there a different name for that generic Rowasa?
Thanks

I have perrigo generic. They are $10 but sherry is right, if you read the resources thread, you can find info on copay assist and pap programs as well.

I have Aetna, and originally they said they wouldn't cover generic mesalamine. I called them and my doctor's nurse called and told them i NEEDED it so they cover it now.

What's the difference between
Rowasa 4 Gm/60 Ml Enema Kit (not covered)
Sfrowasa 4 Gm/60 Ml Enema (covered)

If you can get the sfRowasa at a reasonable cost, take it. That is the sulfate-free variety, and IMO it is the only one that does not make me bleed.
The fact that they cover sfRowasa, but not Rowasa, suggests to me that they cover the generic rowasa.
don't ask your GI, ask your pharmacist. unless the script
was written for no generic substitution, the pahrmacy can supply you the generic w/o further GI input.

I checked with my pharmacy online and it seems to be the enema which will be covered by my insurance.
Is it weird to get happy over medicine? It's like someone is giving a child a treat
Let's hope it works. Please cross your fingers for me.
