Surgery tomorrow - thoughts/prayers appreciated!

We'll all be thinking about you! You are in good hands at the Cleveland Clinic. I have heard nothing but great things about their GI department.

What is the "take-down" if you don't mind me asking? I've heard people mention it but don't know what it is.

Take down occurs when they connect the jpouch to the "out" - I don't know whether you can still call it a rectum in all cases. But whatever control valve is left after the surgery :).

I've heard of the surgery being down in 1, 2, and 3 stages. In one stage, everything happens at once. In 2 stages, the colon is removed and the jpouch are created in one operation. Then several months later the jpouch is connected to the exit. I'm having mine done in 3 stages (colon removed, jpouch created, connected to exit) as I've been on steroids too long.
