I was NewtoUC; following up with my new doc

Hi guys. I wrote a couple of weeks ago after my new GI scoped me that he'd told me he hadn't seen any evidence of UC. I had my followup appointment with him today and he confirmed that he didn't think I had UC. He did take biobsies of the non-polyp tissue and he said he didn't see any evidence of it in there. He said there's a chance I could have it and be in remission, but he thinks it's highly unlikely.

On the other hand, he found 10 precancerous polyps. Yay. So I'll be going for another scoping in a year.

In other news, my doc doesn't understand where my leakage is coming from, so he's sending me to a procotologist.

Also, my doc found blood in my stool again today, and he still doesn't know where it's coming from, and my blood test showed me to be slightly anemic even though I take iron supplements, so I'm doing a camera endoscopy in a couple of weeks.

He's also doubling my reflux meds, but at this point the reflux is the least of my worries. :)

Where exactly were they?
Were there any precancerous cells in other biopsies?

Do you have a copy of the biopsies results? if not..get one asap.

Why exactly is does your doctor know where the leakage is from...or do you mean that he doesn't understand why?

Have you had your vitamin B-12 checked?

Why is it important to get your vitamin B-12 levels checked quincy? I am just curious because I have a request form from my G.I to do a blood test for my vitamin B-12 levels but I just haven't done it as I couldn't be bothered.

Yes, the hemmies were caught in both scopes, but only my 2nd doc thought they were the cause of the leakage. Now he's not so sure because nothing seems to be working: not hydrocortisone suppositories, Prep H or this Chinese herbal ointment I got online. He thinks I might have prolapsed rectum instead, but he wants me to see a specialist. He says it could be a fistula, but then we would be seeing brown stool in the discharge.

Yes, I am in a ton of pain. Have been for weeks. The leakage has been pretty much constant since July 17. Yes, I remember the date. :) I think the pain's been getting worse over the weeks. I am trying to figure out whether to try one of those herbal remedies I've seen online. I actually got some Butcher's Broom but I've been afraid to try it because of the side effects (the last thing I need is more diarrhea.)

DF...I'm still puzzled that your GI cannot see a possible fistula. I think for sure seek another opinion from a proctologist regardless.

The reason I always suggest everyone get copies of the biopsies results is that the doctor will usually give the abridged version. You will have the results for your records. I also suggest you ask the last doctor for the results of your last c-scope as well if you're able.

You can do a search on what the terms mean and that's very helpful in you formulating questions to ask the doctor for further treatment options.

I would like to know if you have dysplasia or hyperplasia or whatever means precancer. Not by what the doc says, but what's stated by the pathologist.

I didn't get results for MANY, MANY years until on here members were asking me what my results were. Duh...I don't know...lol.

I think the most important point is for your own research and what the terms mean. It's empowerment for decision making and foremost for understanding what's actually happening. Some things sound scary, but not necessarily.

Internal hemmies can be painful if they intrude on certain nerve areas.

Internal hemmies that are out of the butt are considered prolapsed. Or does he think you have a prolapsed rectum?

yes, your MIL stated a truth...but they came up fast and you should find out where exactly they are. It will be itemised in the pathologist report. Each section each biopsy....etc.

Hope your doc will be able to answer the questions you present to him.

Wonder that's usually done for a prolapsed rectum? haven't done research on that...will now.
I hope you get some relief...sounds very uncomfortable and stressful.

Yeah, the surgeries can look scary, but you don't know what's going on. They can freak anyone out.

A few on here have had the camera pill thingie.
Don't remember what it revealed, however.

You can put another thread to ask about the pill cam and hopefully some who've had it are still here.

You're welcome...it's a curious and frustrating issue with the two doctors and the confusion.
