So after seeing my GI on sept 10th and learning my proctitis was 90%+ healed up and there was little granularity, I was feeling great. I was only having streaks of blood here and there and sometimes mushy bits of blood and stool. Last saturday, I went to a pub with my friend and had a few drinks. The following day, I got the runs, going 8 times I think. The stool was also greenish, I'm guessing the alcohol made my colon move things along really quick? Yesterday, I only went 3 times and it was only bloody once. Today, I'm at 4 times and each time had blood. The last time I went there was blood in the toilet bowl and not just on the stool. I'm thinking I completely screwed up by drinking or I have an anal fissure again. I've been slacking on the fissure medication for the past few days and on Sunday, my bum was really sensitive to the touch.
Also, I'm having problems like I was having before when I wasn't on my current medication regime. I have restlessness and heaviness in my legs and just a general depressed mood. I'm using salofalk 4g enemas nightly and cortifoam in the mornings. I did salofalk every other day last week, once I skipped it for 2 days. The doctor said it was OK for me to do 5x a week and I guess I just acted like a fool and did my own thing... Should I just do the enemas back to nightly? Yesterday was my 2nd month on enemas, not nightly though. I take ativan when needed (.5mg) cause of panic. I'm scared that I'm taxing my liver by that one night of drinks, ativan, and the occassional tylenol 500mg for headaches. I found out today that my family doctor is on vacation and I won't be able to get a refill on ativan, I don't think so at least. I'm hoping maybe I can find a good therapist or something. I'm only 20 but I feel so old. I hate having to feel like this but it's comforting knowing I can come here and vent to people that aren't foreign to problems like mine.

I'm sorry you're feeling crappy again.
I do almost the same with the enemas as you. I haven't found much relief so far. I would do them nightly again, yes. Are you on any oral meds at this time?
What type of alcohol did you have? At least you know for the future. I can have vodka and other clear alcohol and take it fine. Did you have beer? Just curious.
Is there a substitute doc you can go to? That's what I used to do when my GP was out.
I hope you find relief soon.

Go back to nightly on your enemas. I would be doing them nightly if I was seeing blood at all. I find if I am having any kind of symptoms that I do the enemas nightly but I can skip a night here and there but if I skip 2 then I have symptoms.

yeah I'll do the enemas nightly until I can feel I'm getting better. I had 6-7 beers. there is a substitute doctor he refers people to but I've never had to go there. I'll see what I can do.

good stuff. Don't let UC get in the way of beer. Yeah yeah you're going to bleed. But who cares.
Gotta do what you love.

dontscopeme: please stop beating yourself up. You are a young man out to have fun like anyone else. You did what "normal" people do which is to let off a little steam, have a laugh and socialize. Perhaps you overindulged given our diagnosis. We've all done it! Sadly we've all suffered the same consequences for one night of trying to forget this disease. Beating yourself up will only make ur bowel & anxiety worse. The good news is what yr doc said. Be vigilant with Meds including the enemas. See someone else; even at a clinic for the Ativan. I totally get the anxiety. I really do.
For the record I'm sorry that this happened:(. Next time stick to gin!!

Evry once in a while I succumb to some libations. It's fun, it's social and I pay for it everytime..... it always activates things whenever I am feeling good. I should know better but gosh darn it having some fun and drinking some beers is tough to pass up sometimes. Unfortunately like I said, it does me in every time.....
