Tasty ways to take Probiotics?

Bought probiotics today - don't know if I can mention the brand, but it comes in a small container that looks like milk. Dosage is 1 bottle a day for adults, 1/2 bottle for kids. it has like 90 billion or something. Much stronger than yogurt.

It tastes NASTY! There is no way I can convince my daughter to drink it when I wouldn't either. Anyone have recipe suggestions to mask the taste but still get the benefits?

It is nasty. I take VSL 3 in powder (sachets). It tastes like f.... crap. I feel like throwing up. My mother tried it too once, she agreed it tastes awful.

However, if you mix it with strong orange juice (tropicana) or grape juice, you'll mask the probiotic taste pretty well. So, pour half a glass of orange juice with a pack of your probiotic and drink that in one shot.

I take the super strength capsules, they work really well for me.

Make it into a smoothie,with frozen or fresh fruit.

I've never really understood why people do the packet thing when you can just swallow a pill and be done with it. And, if the capsule is enteric coated, it gets where it is supposed to be instead of wondering how much of those original billion don't get killed in the stomach and are of no use anyway. That goes for liquid drinks as well.

I believe (not sure), but from what I've read, powder is more effective as opposed to pills. The probiotics start working the second they enter the GI track, including your mouth. I think when you swallow powder, particles still remain in your mouth, your throat, small intestine, large etc.

A pill might open only at specific locations.

I have a liquid form - bio k plus. Hard to drink straight so am hoping a shake or something will mask it. I haven't seen the powders but I think we might move to pills than to taste this stuff!

somedude... sucha pansy! i look forward to my VSL every morning because it tastes so good. i even lick the spoon to make sure i get all the powdery, slimy goodness. you are right though- i do use citrus juice or coconut juice and you can't really taste anything because the juice is so flavorful.

Banana and someother fruit smoothie! Do u buy this at this probitic at regular store? Does it contiainn dairy ? Or just look like mini milk?

I mix one package of VSL#3 DS with two heaping teaspoons of orange-flavored metamucil and about 4oz of water and suck in down.

I take the VSL#3DS in the powder satchet form (I think the DS only comes this way and is not available in any other form).... ANyway I mix it with a small glass of lemonade and actually find it to taste quite good that way

The kidn the OP bought sounds more milky so to me I'd mix tha in a frozen fruit smoothie bet you wouldn't taste a thing doing it that way
