Blood after BM

I personally have blood mixed in my stool during flares, not just on the tissue. My motions have blood steaks or clots in them during a flare, and blood literally drips out of me into the toilet bowel when I try to 'go'. I think you know when its excessive through the weakness you feel due to anaemia. I personally get freaked out by blood in stool and any blood I think is too much! My GI doctor monitors my blood count during flares and when I was an inpatient last year for 6 weeks, I had to have 2 blood transfusions and an iron transfusion due to losing so much blood. I would say mucus and blood seem to be my first symptoms in a flare, increased bowel movements and diarrhea follow after.

Yeah it can seem scary to see red on paper or toilet bowl. Remember it dilutes in water to appear more than it is. It is never a good thing to be bleeding with BM's but it is unfortunately very much a part of a flare!

Bright red is sign it's coming from down low in your system. I take solace when only the first BM has blood - means higher up is not too inflamed yet. But if you are worried - talk to your doctor.
