GI informed me today that I'm a candidate for surgery, need some support

Definitely get as much information as you,possibly can to help with making a decision. I tried everything, drug trial, remicade, the usual concoction of drugs. I was in denial for years, thinking it would never have to happen, but it got to a stage where I had nowhere to go except maybe an early grave and decided to have surgery. Unfortunately for me, it was a difficult time, three surgerys within two weeks and a months stay in hospital, pneumonia and other complications, my ileostomy is now permanent, i didn't have enough bowel left for a j pouch. Hence why gathering as much information as possible is important, you,need to be prepared. I thought having an appliance (bag) would be just too difficult and no way was I having one, let alone having to deal with it and look at it ...it disgusted me. BUT....as much as it sounds just awful, I survived it all and it's honestly ok, I am thankful I get another chance at life and no more drugs and uc. Good luck with your decision and take care.
