Hi everyone,
So, my GI finally prescribed me hydrocortisone suppositories this week after multiple combinations of apriso, canasa, rowasa, and predisone weren't stopping my bleeding and diarrhea. I actually asked my GI about the hydrocortisone after reading about people on here having success with it. I'm wondering though, if people have any thoughts about doing the hydrocortisone as enemas vs. suppositories because I feel like I've only seen the enemas mentioned on here and I feel like as far as the mesalamine drugs go the enemas seem to work better than the suppositories. On the up side, I do feel like the hydrocortisone is starting help. NO blood today for the first time in months! This flare has just been so stubborn though, that I want to make sure I'm getting at it with the best thing possible.
Also, I'm now scheduled for a colonoscopy for the beginning of November. I had a flex sig in Sept of 2011 and a full colonoscopy in July of 2010. At the last flex sig it looked like the problem was just proctitis. Although I do think it would be interesting to know if things have progressed since last year, since my symptoms have been so bad the past few months, I'm questioning the value of going through this again just for the info. I sort of feel like the GI is suggesting this just because he doesn't know what else to do with me at this point. Even if things have progressed, is that really going to change anything about how they treat me? I really don't want to do the biologics, so I'm thinking I'm kind of at the end of the line as far as meds go. It's also getting expensive to go through this pretty much every year on top of the cost of all these meds.
Any thoughts? I feel like I'm getting better information from you all than doctors :) Thank you!
