Itchy but no rash?

If this doesn't stop soon, I plan on calling my doc (just wanted the throw that out there). But for the last 2 weeks, my upper arms have been EXTREMELY itchy - like the kind of itch you get with a mosquito bite (the more you itch the itchier it gets) but there is no rash. I've also been having very light colored stool, almost yellow. I just had a blood test and my liver levels are fine but I am wondering if perhaps there is something going on with my liver that is not showing up. I have no pain in the liver area btw.

It's not dry skin because I've used different lotions - switched lotions around to see if I am allergic to different ingredients and whatnot. Benedryl cream barely stops the itching. I've tried different soaps, lotions, shampoo/conditioners, laundry soap - you name it, I tried it. The itch isn't anywhere else but my upper arms and it's been waking me up at night.

Has anyone ever had something similar? And if so, what did it turn out being? And btw, I don't know if it means anything, but I am highly prone to rashes but normally these rashes don't itch.

I had the same problem about 6mths ago, my skin was so itchy and  was scratching all the time.  My skin was raised in the area where I scratched.

This also would wake me at night, my skin was not dry and the laundry soap was still  the same.  Then I looked up the meds that i was on and Mezavant for me seemed to be the problem.  I stopped it and switched back to salofalk that I was originally on and the itching stopped.

Have you switched any meds lately?

Have you tried an oral antihistamine?  When my seasonal allergies are active my feet and palms itch like crazy.  My eldest daughter will give herself welts scratching her belly.  This is all without visible hives.  Get an OTC antihistamine like zyrtec and see if it helps.

Maybe double the dose and see if that makes a diff. Might make you sleepy, but maybe worth a shot.

Right now I'm at the library-- so I'll look at my lotion when I get home & let you know-- works great on upper arm itches, contains menthol. (Cannot explain yellow stool, though.) BTW, Sherry, I finally got to ask my gastro that Q you had RE why UCers require a higher trough level of Remicade compared to Crohn's patients: gastro says that researchers think it is because UCers have larger stretches of inflammation "that are awash with bacterial growth & other mucosal surface things going on"-- whereas Crohn's inflammation tends to be patchy & deep. / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I guess I can try doubling my Zyrtec, but I have to ask my primary about that. I am only set for so many a month and if I double the dose it might raise questions - though if this continues, she will know why! (Because I will be seeing her) The only relief I got was when I had my Remi infusion about 2 weeks ago - they gave me Benedryl and Solumedrol, I was itch free for about 2 days.

Sherri, I hope your son figures out why he's so itchy. And I hope they figure out why he's so itchy - that is the hardest part, trying to figure out why....it's all about the power of deduction sometimes.

Paula, I don't know if the yellow stool correlates to my itchies either - I just thought I would throw that out there in case anyone else had the same issue. But lordy! I hope it's not Eczema! lol I already have psoriasis and Peri-oral dermatitis - that is the last thing I need! I hope that your rash goes away soon. I get random rashes myself (of unknown origin) but luckily they don't itch - I primarily get them on my stomach and my legs. They look sort of like a heat rash but normally I get them when I am fighting a virus of some sort.

Omg! I hope you don't have eczema too! That's a lot of skin issues for one person to deal with:)

Okay! That's it! I am definitely calling my doctor on Monday. I went to bed at midnight and at 2am I was too tired to get out of bed, I laid there for about a half an hour - scratching. I was finally driven out of bed to put some Benedryl cream on it. Omg! Does this itch! It's such an intense itch and if I don't itch it, it sort of stings or like a zinging sensation until I have no choice but to itch or sometimes I gently slap where it itches so I am not destroying my skin.

Wow, that's pretty cheap Sheri! Right now I get the generic from CVS, usually a 90 day supply for $15 (I have a prescription and my co-pay for generic is $5 per). I may have to take a trip to Costco :)

I was too. They do that with my Prilosec too. My insurance covers it for cheaper than if I was to buy it OTC.

Do you and I have the same best friend Q???? Lol my best friend has the same issues except for auto immune issues, but she has a chronic itch, chronic coughing among other things.

I was going to call my GI on Monday and see if possibly this itching is due to the 6mp. He mentioned about taking me off it anyway because of my possible small fiber neuropathy. I will know more on Monday when I talk to him.

Oh and I gave up on having breaks. It is what it is, I just take one day at a time and try my darnedest to not let these things bother me :)

No. I've been on Remicade for little over a year and the itch started 2-3 weeks ago. I know that allergic reactions can occur at anytime tho. So it can be a great number of things. I sort of wished I did have rashing tho, something noticeable instead of it being invisible ya know?
