Diarrhea since Scope

ever since my scope on Tuesday I've had nothing but diarrhea. Granted I didn't have well formed before my scope but this is full on diarrhea...definitely worse than before the scope. Anyone else experience this? Also I've had more cramping than normal...would the multiple biopsies cause any pains that I could actually feel? I know he took A LOT.

I think everything you are feeling is normal for some people after a scope. Some people end up flaring if they weren't beforehand. Some say after a week or so they return to how they were prior. Hope that is the case for you.

I had the same thing recently. Was in a not-so-bad flare prior to my scope and then had nothing but diarrhea for about 2 weeks afterward. Starting settling down at that point though. Posted here about it because I was freaking out too - hadn't happened to me before.

yeah it hasn't happened to me before which is why I was curious...I rarely ever cramp lately as well and all the little pains are showing up now.

I was scoped last Tuesday as well and have been feeling the same exact way. Moderate left-sided UC was observed and biopsied (should not have been a surprise given my mild symptoms of late) but since then things have gotten slightly worse (softer stools and increased cramping). I'm glad to hear that it's not uncommon for one to take a few weeks to recover from this. Hopefully by that point the enemas and increased lialda will do their trick on my UC.

this happens to me after every colonoscopy. my last one was the worse. my cramping and diarrhea got so bad that i went to the hospital for an abdominal scan. they thought my colon was perforated during the scope, but the scan showed nothing weird. i started throwing up everything i ate after this as well. i should also mention that my "cocktail" during the procedure had two additional drugs that i had never had.

only thing that helped my endless cramping was paleo/scd. i felt so sick that i was desperate to try anything.

I was def. worse after my scope.  I was in a mild flair and it def. exacerbated it.  It took about 2 months (sorry) but what got me back was adding Cortifoam for about 14 days. 

 With my first scope, no problem, but this was different.  I think this is why they should not overscope.  In fact, I will put up a real battle if I get asked for another one for at least 5 years.  (but as you know sometimes the Dr.'s hold your meds hostage if you don't go along)

Anyway, hope you feel better soon. Those preps and scopes are very hard on our fragile colons.

I hate the friggin prep...and I go for the OsmoPrep pills as I have a terrible gag reflex drinking things that don't taste well at all :(

Gordon...how many times a day are you having diarrhea?

You might try some fibre supplements and probiotics.

it was about 5 times a day...starting to slow down to about 3 now
