This is kind of embarrassing but here I go anyways. Does any of you who are on Lialda or asacol leave a brownish stain on the toilet? I am guessing from urine splashing up? not sure, but I know it is the pills b/c it happened when I was on asacol years ago. Then when I stopped taking it the staining stopped on the toilet. I asked my doctor and he said he has never heard of that....? Please tell me I am not the only one this happens to?!

No experience with it on Lialda. On the Asacol, however, there was discoloration of the water but it ended up being whole Asacol pills dissolving. Thus the switch to Lialda where no problems except had to up to 3 each day from 2.

I've only been on Lialda for about
a month but I have noticed somewhat darker and/or sometimes cloudy urine. Of course, I don't care if it turns my urine purple as long as it makes the UC go away.

I did notice that when I was on Asacol for awhile, and I remember a thread here a long while back where MANY people reported seeing the exact same thing!! Strange. But I am on Lialda now, only have been for about
a week and haven't thought to check. I did notice the Lialda pills smell weird though. And for some reason, it's funny, I kind of expected a little blue and green pill, maybe because of the coloring of all their ads, and I was a little disappointed when I got them and they were like three asacol tablets mushed into one!!

It's any mesalamine drug. Rowesa is the messiest, but I saw the same thing with Asacol and Colazal and now with the Lialda. It's from yer butt, if you're anything like me sometimes things get a bit forceful, it splashes around .... love we can discuss these grody things here ... anyway, I keep Windex or Multipurpose wipes in the bathroom and just clean the toilet daily. You can also your flushable Conttenelle type wipes. If you have a plastic seat it's less likely to stain than a wooden seat.

Wow, I noticed this while on Colazal and now Lialda. I'm about
to replace my toilet seat also. I thought it was just the blood and the stool splashing up even though I did read in the Canasa insert that it could stain surfaces. I didn't think the stain would be brown though.
I even have stains on the front of the seat. That can't be from the stool, so maybe it is from the urine. I did read mesalmine is mostly excreted renally.
I thought it was just me.

Hey all,
I actually have the same issue. I would recommend two things:
(1) Plastic toilet seat that you can wipe daily or after you use the restroom
(2) Heavy Duty sponges that you can use weekly
http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-Brite-Heavy-Scrub-Sponge-Count/dp/B0055O2A3G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1351715463&sr=8-1&keywords=sponges
I previously took Asacol, then Colazal, and only really noticed this with the Lialda.
Hope this helps!

I'm with ya'll. I'm taking Asacol and see the same staining. I like the bulk toilet seat ordering idea. LOL
