Does anyone know if either Mezavant or Imuran cause high blood pressure.

I have been feeling sick...headache, nausea, tired, sick taste and had put it down to having a virus.

I went to my GP yesterday and she checked my blood pressure 150/86 (this was the second reading). She is a bit stupid if you know what I mean.

I am due to have a blood test second week of November. Should I just leave it until then or should I call my gastro specialist and let him know how I am feeling...i don't want to be a pain.

Headache, nausea, fatigue, and sick taste seem like a combination of side effects from the mezavant and imuran. The high blood pressure doesn't seem like a common side effect from either of the two medications.

Haven't you been on pred recently? When I was on pred for 1 year and a half, I got hypertension but when I stopped it it went back down to some extent.
Your pressure should be high for 3 successive readings to say you have hypertension.

     I tend to agree with minnie.  While on prednisone I suffered with uncontrollable high BP.  I say uncontrollable because I had readings of 216/110 more often than not while taking three different blood pressure meds per day!  Before my operation I had become prednisone dependent and it was literally killing me.  I am now more than two years post op and my BP is 130/70 and I only take 1 pill a day of 25 mgm Toprol xl.  That is the only med I currently take.  I also was on 6MP for seven years but it never gave me high BP....elevated liver enzyme and pancreatic enzyme levels...yes, but not high BP.

I am not on prednisone. The last time I took it was in February. So its not from that unless it has residual effects.

Definitely talk to your GI...but when my UC meds were influencing my blood pressure (well, when Prednisone was giving me high BP), my GI had my GP handle things the treatment. Just be prepared that that might happen.

     No, then it isn't from prednisone, unless you are on a Cort enema.  But, I doubt the Cort enema would push the BP up far.  This is a problem your family doctor should be addressing. 

     I can remember one time my GI doctor was trying to perform a sigmoidoscope on me in his office.  My head felt like it was going to blow off.  His nurse took my BP and it read 210/110....wow...he immediately aborted the test, had me sit in the examining room until my pressure dropped a bit and sent me straight over to my family doctor's office which just happened to be right across the street..lol.  I thought my GI doctor was going to have a stroke right along with me!  OY!  How I don't miss those days.
