Sorry to dig up this old thread but I thought it was very relevant to me.
Petah, I too am from Australia (Melbourne to be exact) and I have had a consultation at the CDD (had it in early September). My consultation was with Dr. Antony Wettstein (friendly fellow). I am scheduled for a telephone consultation tomorrow in fact so they can get my details down and organise a fecal transplant whenever I so desire.
Dr. Wettstein told me that my case is too mild to be considered for FT at the moment. Sounds like your case is similar to mine (or maybe milder) but he said he is willing to get me prep'ed for the procedure just in case my symptoms deteriorate and I want a fecal transplant immediately. This is why I have the telephone consulation, so that they can get all the administrative stuff completed and whenever I want, I just call up, say I want to do a fecal transplant and away I go.
Like you, I also suffered from UP, initially, and currently suffer from anxiety (though I am finding ways to control it). Initially I had 6cm of rectal inflammation and ulceration. Like you, I was prescribed 1g Pentasa suppository every night and my bleeding stopped in 2 days. A few months later they found I had additional inflammation in my cecum so I started taking oral Salofalk. A year later (this year) they found that my colon was now fine but I had ulcers on my terminal ileum. All this happened within a span of 3.5 years. I hope yours remains just as UP, particularly since you have had it for 5 years.
I still taking my daily oral Salofalk and Pentasa suppository. If there is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to ask.

Maxmillian. I'm gutted. I had a feeling this would be the case. Im due for my consult on the 31st of Jan. I'm currently under the care of a GP, and no GI so I'm sure I could benefit from seeing someone who knows what they are on about
. I've been left alone with my illness without any follow up care since my diagnosis. The only time I've seen a GI was for my two scopes. Over a two years. I was recently admitted overnight to Hosptial. I took a pea protein supplement they gave me horrific foul smelling diareah. I've never experienced anything like it. It lasted a week. In that time I was referred to a GI who knew nothing and asked nothing about
my history. He had no previous tests results. He increased pentasa to two grams oral and 1g suppository. He was miffed at the idea of fecal transplant and took affence to me saying I'd be let down by my Dr. He told me to take his advice or not. I was in tears. He never batted an eyelid. He told me fecal transplant does not work. He was cold, rude. He never acknowledged any of my concerns. I left and refused to pay him $170. I didn't increase the medication and have returned to normal. I refuse to be a number!! He didn't treat me and I wasn't paying for that. This has left me without a GI in my town but if he is it, I'd rather travel. I'm so sad about
your post. I didn't get my hopes up though, somehow I knew it would be for more serious cases. :( I will go anyway (: thanks again
