Newly diagnosed and meds only worked for 3 months

I was diagnosed with UC this year after suffering weird stuff for a few years. Started with sudden painful bloating in my belly and right side of my hip, sharp crippling pains in my bum,mucus and blood tinged stools and progressed to very frequent bathroom trips.

Went to the doctors a few times eventually had an ultrasound which showed no problem but my problems continued and got worse. I eventually got to see a colorectal specialist who agreed I needed a sigmoidoscopy. The whole process took around 4 months but I was diagnosed with UC and given a months worth of asacol and predfoam. 2 weeks in and I started becoming normal. I carried on with my asacol ( on it for life) and things were fabulous until I had my full colonoscopy 3 months later. More or less the day after my symptoms began returning. More bathroom trips, bloody stools, accidents etc. it's been building up. It's been around 3 months since my colonosopy and I've been back and forth to my GP more or less every week for help. They give me blood tests every two weeks now. I have 2 very good male GP's at my practice and one very unsympathetic older female Gp. My two male doctors have been good and given me predfoam again ( which I can't keep in very long) lansoprazol and even tried to get me an earlier appointment with the hospital ( which was impossible) the female doctor sent me away last week and told me she could do nothing and if it was so bad I should go to A&E lol

After my last trip to the GP I was less inclined to go back and just holding out for my hospital appointment on the 30th nov. sadly over the Weekend my body decided to up the ante. I bloted badly with stomach cramps, vomiting, joint pain and I felt feverish. My skin felt sore to touch and I was passing blood ( as usual every time I go) I feel raw inside and sore. I went back to my doctors and even took a stool sample. He was shocked when I showed him ( I took it just Incase it was the women doctor) he was very good and put me on predfoam and metronidazole. I'm hoping my consultant can help me because I'm broken at them moment. I'm female, 32 with 3 kids and this has happened so fast that I'm scared what's to come.

This is my sample and 6 or more times a day this is all that happens when I go to the bathroom ( sorry if tmi) I really can't talk to anyone about this other than people going through it also. Nobody understands.

I feel my GP is scared to change anything without the permission of my consultant. That sample was from my second bathroom trip of yesterday morning ( before 8.30am) I had more blood the previous trip. Sadly that's more or less every trip for the last few weeks. I know there are those out there much worse off that me but being new to this I have nothing to compare my symptoms to.

My doctor seems terrified of me. I have blood tests every 2 weeks and so far only my electrolytes have been slightly abnormal. I'm praying my consultant can help me. I was hoping someone on here had experience of this much blood in the stools and could tell me what it meant ( is it at very extreme end with UC. Or about right )

I've just had a week of bleeding four or five times each morning, felt really tired and lethargic so went for blood test thinking I might have become anaemic but not heard anything!!!
I'm in uk too and they really don't seem to care about uc, only care about cancer, heart conditions and old age!!!! I am learning as I suffer basically and very glad of these forums as I now know I am not alone! Small blessing though.

Some people really need help here in the US but this is just one more example of how horrible care is in these countries that have "free" nationalized health care. What's happening to you is just atrocious. Even lower income people in the US that have health insurance through their employers have waaaaaay better care than this, even though they have to pay deductibles and out of pockets. You should definetly be seen by the specialists. GP's are there to treat your colds, flues, and infections.

Sadly you can't just ring up and go unless you have private care. You have to wait months to get in and see a specialist, I've seen mine twice and he had to give me a note to give my GP with the recommended meds. When I saw the female GP she said because I was on my limit of Asacol (4 800mg a day) there was nothing she could do, if it was that bad I should just go to A&E. honestly I wanted to just cry when I got in the car. I don't want to spend my life in hospital waiting rooms because my doctor has little understanding of how to manage my illness.

I have tried all times of day and its abit hit and miss. I've never bled this badly and this long before. My first flair lasted about 8 months with only mild to moderate bleeding in about 6 toilet trips a week, tge rest was very mucusy.This one is 3 months so far with the bleeds becoming more concentrated and with every bathroom trip the bad cramping started on Sunday just gone and you would think I'd opened a vein with how red the blood is. I think because I'm going so often my insides are very raw and ulcerated. I'm going to do my foam in bed tonight and stay still although sometimes I'm have to get up a few times a night, thankfully this doesn't happen to frequently

Can't wait till the 30th, I really can't. Hopefully he will know what to do

Well he put me back on the predfoam and some antibiotics called metronidazole ( not sure why but must think I have an infection) I think he's just trying to get me through until my my next hospital appointment. I'm definately going to ask if they have any day clinics that I can get specialised help when I need on the spot care.

Thanks. It's night time 23:40pm and have tried unsuccessfully to administer my foam enema. It just wants to one straight out. Last night I managed to keep the second try in and got in bed. Lets see if third times lucky.
