Thank you imagarderer2. Yes was on the site, but it only offered VSL#3 not the D type. I will call when they open to inquire about the D type.
Then I will sell a kidney so that I may afford this, in an effort to keep my bowel:)
The VSL people will tell you they don't sell the D (because they don't) and may be unable to tell you how to get an RX to order it cross-border.
I think your desire to get the DS is perhaps misplaced because if your healthcare won't cover it (if it's not available how could they cover it?) there is no reason to get the DS since it is the very same product as VSL#3. So just order 1 box and do a test with it in increasing amounts.
Therapeutic dose is 8 packets a day (packets not pills. Pills have a lower amount of dose) but maybe you will get results with less (I did). Some people report D with it (that's the diarrhea "D") and prefer other probiotics instead.
As far as selling a kidney, here's my philosophy: would I pay a large amount of money to be healed? Yes. Is it necessary to pay a large amount of money the rest of my life? No, I have found that once I got into remission I did not need as many doses of VSL to maintain remission. I use one packet a day and my cost is under $90/month.
Try VSL#3, see if it does anything for you before selling your kidney. I hope you see some positive benefits. If you do then you will figure out how to pay for it. Nothing about
UC is forever, always one day at a time.
Best of luck.
