Cysts

Does anyone else here get a lot of cysts? I think mine are more hereditary from my father's side because my brothers (who are IBD free) get them as well. I don't know if having Uc just contributes to it or not...but so far I have had about 21 cysts either drained, removed or injected since I was 18 (I'm now 42). Two of the largest ones were on my ovary (6cm) and in my breast (the size of a golfball).

Yesterday I went to a periodontist because I had a small black/blue lump on my outer gums near my canine. She removed it but she said it was........yep...another cyst! I'm now dealing with mouth stitches - not fun :(

I can't help but wonder if perhaps this could be Uc and/or med related.....or maybe I'm just an unlucky individual to get the IBD from my moms side and cysts from my dads???

A cyst in the gum above my #13 premolar last yr led to the recent thread Sherbear & I did on dental implants. Glad that a periodontist was able to get at yours w/o extracting a tooth! The gyno-organ cysts might have been hormone-related, and one's endocrine system can also affect the colon. Maybe it's just easier to think of yourself as a walking chemistry set, Sherry. (LOL.) If gum stitches bother you, rinse with warm salt water. Do you have any knots hanging down? Those can be very annoying. / Old Hat (32 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I have a number of fatty cysts in my thighs and abdomen area. I remember having one since I was 12 or so. UC didn't show up until age 30.
My father has one in his abdomen.
Had them looked at and the Dr. said they were just fatty cysts, but they could be removed if they started giving me trouble.

I had one fatty cyst in my breast, which was removed.

This is a very old thread, UCy. I do not know of any connection between cysts and UC. I get them on my scalp and my mother gets them on her skin occasionally. Cysts are very common so it is not surprising that some people have cysts and UC.

I have had ganglion cysts in my feet, wrists, and knees every time my UC has flared. In fact, they usually start appearing just before I notice but symptoms.
