Prednisone crazy side effects?

Just curious if anybody has every had a racing heartbeat while on Prednisone?  I've  been on 40mg for about 11 days now and start reducing by 5mg this Friday (thankfully).  I know it can make you irritable and it's definitely done that for me.  But last night I woke up with a racing heartbeat and all sweaty. I've woken up sweaty on this stuff before - that's one of the normal side effects listed.  But man was my heart racing!  I was pretty hyped up before I went to bed - this stuff has me wired!  Running around getting about 20 things done at once, plus I couldn't fall asleep (another common side effect I know).

I took a look at the side effects and don't see anything listed about rapid heartbeat, has anybody else had this?  I mean like I said, I do feel pretty 'hyper' on it. Been trying to calm myself down but I've been planning a last-minute vacation and its getting a little stressful. Trying to calm myself down or keep myself busy around the house - which is easy to do, getting alot of projects done!

 

What time of the day do you take Pred?

I take the Prednisone right at lunchtime, around noon.  Good to know its not an unusual side effect at least.  Luckily I don't seem to gain weight on it, but sure I'll get a hair shed from both the after effects of the flare and tapering the Prednisone. Just a few months and I"ll be off of it, I guess at least it took away my flare-up very quickly so I can be very greatful for that!  

I take my prednisone early in the morning. It did not cut out the night sweats when I was on a high dose but I didn't have a problem going to sleep or staying asleep.

I felt so racy while I was on it- almost to the point of panic attack at times. I have never had high blood pressure in my life so didn't even know what that felt like. I took my blood pressure and it was way up and didn't get back within normal range until I was on 10 mgs. You might want to check it just to be sure!

Interesting, maybe I'll switch to taking it with breakfast.  I do take my birth control pill in the morning and always hate taking ANY meds with that (so many things seem to interact with them!).  Not sure if it matters taking the pred at the same time as the birth control pill?

Strangely enough I had a dentist appt yesterday and they took my blood pressure. It was about 20 points above my 'normal' range - although my blood pressure is usually pretty low so for me even the higher reading was still within 'normal' luckily!

Too funny, I am always freezing - my heat is set to 72 on a normal basis.  Last night I had to turn it down - at least I will save money on heating! :)  Now I know what my mom felt like all those 20+ years she said she was in menopause!  As long as I don't start running around the house whipping my shirt off in a sweat like she used to, I'll be good!

It's horrible. I'm so sorry anyone else has ever had this. I'm going through it right now. I am simply unable to control by behavior. Alternate between gasping for air unable to lift my hand and sweats and shaking. Crying, yelling, confused. SIck.
