colonoscopy tomorrow--am i done with the prep?

Hi,

So I have my colonoscopy tomorrow and I have a prep question (sorry if this is gross, but i'm assuming most of you know!!!!)

So I have 56 ounces of a gatorade and miralax mix. It said i can stop when it's all clear liquid coming out. so far i've had around 25 ounces, and its been yellowish/greenish and coming out like pee. however every once and a while some mucus-like stuff will come out. does this mean it is not clear and i should keep going or is this stuff inevitable i can stop? i just dont want to have to reschedule or for them to miss something because its not fully clean.

They told me to take it all. I don't know. I think to be on the safe side, I would drink a little more just to be sure.

i've never used that prep before, but i've also never went clear after any prep either. if you feel like you are all cleaned out, you probably are. not everyone poops clear.

     If I can remember back when I had to have colonoscopies, the doctor always made me do the Nulightly (I think he was a masochist..lol), he wouldn't even consider any other prep.  In his opinion that was the ONLY prep that really cleaned you out.  Anyway, if it was yellow and NOT dark, it was ok.  I never had a problem being cleaned out enough.  My problem was that I had too much inflamation and he couldn't go up as far as he wanted rolleyes .  UGH...that used to get on my last nerve!

I did the same prep as you kaylee. I did not drink it all.

I would drink at least 3/4ths of the mixture.
One thing you don't want is to have a situation where the GI is not able to adequately inspect the lining of your colon.

I had a c a few weeks ago and drank the evil potion even while I felt like gagging.... until what came out was completely liquid. It was yellowish, not perfectly clear.

Drink as much of it as you can. I finished all but the last glass / 8 oz or so, and if I can so can you. I'm a gagger and haven't been able to drink gatorade since.

It actually took me until 1am to finish drinking (my prep was pills + magnesium citrate + miralax) because I started with pills and started an hour and a half late (at 5:30pm instead of 4) and it took me FOREVER to get everything down.

I was up all night it was awful!

You do not want to be in a situation where it isn't totally clean and you have to do it again. Drink as much as you can! If you have a little left, that's ok, but I wouldn't say that half is enough.

Drink it all. My scope was about a month ago & when I mentioned to the nurse I still felt fluid in my gut she informed me they suction remaining fluid out at beginning of procedure.
Diagnosed with UC 11/2012 started Prednisone (taper down for one month) and Lialda.
At end of taper fevers started with muscle and joint pain and day after finishing prednisone, (Christmas eve) lip swelled and hives appeared! Still trying to get over my allergy to Lialda before we move on to another drug. Meanwhile back on more Prednisone and all it's good and bad effects and OTC antihistamines are less than effective for the hives! skull skull
Doing my best to remain positive as my life has been turned upside down for ten weeks and God only knows what is ahead...
