Wow, didn't realise those awesome bodies were clipped to the skin...what exactly is the purpose, esthetic or cooling or..?
Sounds as though Max is in the best place...I agree that risking further injury could place him in a bad situation. he has earned the retirement, after all..and for you to be able to keep him safe is a good feeling.
Thanks for explaining the jumping process and stride control/timing, etc. Makes sense, but I can see how it would be difficult to get it all into motion of trust on both horse and rider.
The cross-country jumping and extreme high jumping gives me the willies. I won't watch it. It puts the natural ability and safety into question. Same with horse racing and the rodeos/racing....beyond my tolerance level. I think it's because of the damaged rejects that the ranch where I rode used to get and try to help.
My first horse was originally from a riding/jumping stable. If he even saw an english saddle, he freaked. Eventually the woman who purchased him from me did ride him in English and did some jumping. She was amazing...he trusted her 100%
Wow, you must have had amazing control to avoid the port-a-potties. It's good you're at a place that's UC-friendly. That must ease a lot of your worries...even having that takes so much stress away.
Anytime you want to post pics of the horses, I'd love to see them. Vicarious pleasure is still rewarding!
