How to ease into VSL 3

So I bought a bottle and have taken one capsule per night for the last three nights. My stomach is really bloated, to the point I'm too full to eat more than a few bites, feeling like my diaphragm is putting pressure into my heart. I notice the bottle says to take up to 8 capsules? And I've read here that VSL works best in high amounts for UC. Should I keep adding more and get up to the 8? Did anyone else have that feeling when they first began probiotics?

I just made a batch of homemade yogurt and now I'm scared to try it.

Ease into it. If you did all eight in one day at first you would probably feel like you are going to explode. Maybe do the one pill for a week or two and then increase to two, do that for a week or two and increase. I'm sure you don't have to take 8 to get benefit from them but I will say when I am on antibiotics I take tons then. Just my opinion.

I never took the capsules. I started with 1 packet of the regular VSL#3 (225 billion) and then increased to two packets (450 billion). When i got my prescription I went right up to 2 packets (900 billion). I never had a problem with bloating, but I guess each person is different.

I recently ran out of the capsules and after going to 7 different pharmacies of which two did have the packets, I found one with the capsules. I used to take Florastor until I found VSL. The result was immediate and continues to be what I feel to be a very effective part of my treatment. I take one with my Asacol in the morning and again in the evening. Hopefully you will find what works best for you.

vsl is the only probiotic that has made me feel look like i'm pregnant. it gets my belly really bloated. it only lasts for the first two weeks i am on it and then it goes away. i started with 1 packet of 450 billion a day.

Just go slow with the yogurt and probiotics.

I'm restarting VSL and I'm at 1/2 a packet in the morning and in the evening. So far so good, had a bit of form happening today...cant be sure it's the VSL, but it's not worse.

Bananagirl, that's exactly how I feel and I look five months pregnant. So uncomfortable! Also getting cramps in my stomach just under my chest and assuming it's the vsl. Only started the day after my first vsl. I'm hoping that's what it is and not something else.
