Remicade not working after 3 infusions

just found out the wife is pregnant and the Remicade doesn't seem to be working...is surgery my only other option? can't imagine chasing a kid around and running to the toilet and pooping in the woods...really get concerned...i feel like i am out of options...

what other meds tried? other supplements/alternatives? rectal meds? probiotics? c.diff negative?

how much colon involved? is inflammation mild, moderate, or severe?

what are current symptoms?

hard to speculate on options

i have tried Asacol HD, Lialidia, Baslazide, no help...tried VSL 3DS no help, mescaline enemas and steroid enemas...colon is mild inflamed on the lower part...blood, urgency and gas

with only mild inflammation on left/sigmoid I/myslef would not rush to surgery. Possibly after a short taper of Pred, then the VSL and/or 5-asa might give a better result. Also the extended (colon) release Budesonide will be on the market very shortly.

LDN might also be worth a shot before surgery.

When it is time is a personal decision, but the 2-5 year picture looks fairly promising for treatments.

I agree with DB. If you can wait it out there are a few promising things coming up in the not too distant future which are relatively benign treatment options.

I'd give remicade more time. It took about 4 or 5 infusions for it to start working for me. Have you tried diet modification?
