Any unlucky soul with flu?

Hello folks,

DS and DW are down with flu for last 4 days. I am scared that I will be the next. They have been told to take Ibuprofen to keep fever down. I can not take Ibuprofen. Tylenol won't work on this fever (tried on both of them). I am not too sure Nabumetone will work but curious if any unlucky soul with UC got flu and how they handled it.

Yeah, that would be me. My whole family DH, DS and me got the flu despite all having the flu shot. We were confirmed def. Type A Flu via nasal swab--def sucks big time. I controlled temp w/ Tylenol and using lots of cool washcloths on head, neck, belly etc. I also tried Tamiflu but had a violent bad naseau/throwing up reaction to it. However, trying Tamiflu even as a preventative may not be a bad idea. Just b/c it happened to me, doesn't mean that it won't agree w/ you.

Not too much you can really do--try to not let the fever get out of control by treating early w/ washcloths/Tylenol and hope for the best. I still don't feel 100% (tired and weak) and my UC is acting up a bit. This is the worst flu season ever---hope you don't get it and that everyone in your house is starting to feel better.

tamiflu - you're in a higher risk category and can take it for a couple of weeks as a preventative.

We had strain A in december. I won't lie, it was the sickest we'd all been in years. Horrid, horrid aches and chills. I practically lived in the bathtub. The fever only lasted 36 hours and I only took tylenol a couple of times. My concern is not breaking the fever, just making it manageable. A fever is there to do a job. Then the cough and mucus came. That was nasty. My bf kept wheezing and it was trying to settle in his chest. He was doing breathing treatments like 6 times a day. My medically fragile daughter ended up in the hospital for 5 days and my healthy son missed 6 days of school. Oh and the fatigue. Good god, the fatigue. We all just kept falling asleep randomly. Me at the computer, bf at work, my son in the shopping cart at the store. LOL It took us a good 3 weeks to get back to normal. My bf did have the flu shot but he still got it just as bad as we did.

i got the flu in december. i just let it run its course. it was over in 2 days i believe.
