I have had a pain/burning in my side for 10 days. I have been to the dr. and he ordered an Abdominal CT Scan and blood work. My Blood word came back clear of any infection or anything else. The only thing my CT found was minor inflammation in my large intestine and some slight thickening there as well. He said it could possibly be Colitis or Crohn's and referred me to a GI specialist. This is the only symptom I have. I have no bloody stools, diarrhea or things of that nature just the burning in my side. My question is has anyone with this issue just have burning and no other symptoms? Thanks for the help!

hey asarah, i have never experienced just pain without some sort of digestive symptoms like urgency, diarrhea, constipation. i'm sure a GI will want to perform a colonoscopy to see if he/she can find anything. is the pain bad enough that you are on the couch all the time or is it manageable?

Thank you for the quick reply! The pain is manageable I'm still able to do normal daily things. That's why I was a little confused on what the dr. thought it could be. There is no urgency in need to go to the restroom and everything just seems normal besides the burning and the pain, I honestly thought maybe it was just a kidney infection or something.

The only burning pain I've ever had was my gallbladder. Did they check that ?

They said my gallbladder was fine on the CT Scan...all they could find was the inflammation in my intestine and he said that was only minor. Sometimes Drs. can be so confusing! Thank you so much for responding! I guess I'll find out soon enough. Thank you again for your input, I really appreciate it!

Youre going to need a colonoscopy I assume. They should be able to figure out everything from that.

What side is the pain on? Colitis is more likely to cause pain on the left side

right side pain, up higher around the start of my ribcage then it radiates into my back and then down the side burns in the front and back. it seems worse at night. Are there other tests for gallbladder than just the CT Scan? My Grandpa had UC after having heart surgery they said was caused by shots he was given for the surgery but no one else has any issues with it in my family, but my family does have and issue of gallbladder problems.

Is it worse with high-fat meals? if so, it might be pancreatitis. Is it worse with high-protein meals? Maybe an ulcer.

They did all kids of tests on my gallbladder ultrasound, CT said it was normal. Then they did this test where they send dye into the gallbladder through a vein. The dye never entered my gallbladder because the stones were blocking the tube that enters the gallbladder. So they didn't show up on a scan. That type of pain sounds like my gallbladder pain. It even hurt in my back. But I would still have a colonoscopy to check the inflammation they found. But I would also have them check more on the gallbladder.
