So first I have to announce that...I GOT THE JOB! Moving from litigation to in-house - it doesn't get much better than that!

I got some preliminary paperwork from HR Monday, and it looks like I have my choice of Aetna PPOs with varying deductibles. I'll be choosing the lowest deductibles with the highest med coverage, that's for sure! Having the Asacol covered will be like getting a $400 / month raise, even with the 30% actual pay increase the position is giving me! So that's exciting.

I wanted to ask the forum their experience with Aetna PPOs. Currently I have Blue Shield, and I love it. I'm wondering if Aetna is equally easy to work with or if there is anything I should know about.

Heck, with this fancy coverage maybe I'll switch to Lialda so I don't have to take it so frequently!

I've never had Aetna for healthcare, only for dental. I've always had BCBS and Cigna. What I've noticed is that it depends more on your plan than it does the company that provides the plan. I've had good Cigna and bad Cigna...

I just wanted to say congrats on the job and the raise!!! Great news :)

We have aetna and have had it for years. They have been easy to work with. Approved meds, no problem when I was in hospital, etc. The only time we had an issue was when I had home health care. We had a fairly high deductible we did not know about. But that was our fault for not knowing. Otherwise a-ok.

Meyerlemony- congrats on the new job. Hey, I see you take VSL3 cals and not DS pouches- I assume then that your current BCBS does not cover VSL3DS? I am the opposite of you and am switching over to BCBS so was just curious. Would love to save a few hundred a month in VSL3 if I could finally get it covered.

I had Aetna. They don't like to cover more than the recommeded dose. My doctor tried to get me on two canasa a day. They would not cover it even on appeals to the top level. Same thing with my SSRI. But other than that I never had any trouble. Remicade was covered and was not very expensive. Hope this helps.

Thank you everyone for the tips and the congrats!

Currently I have a plan that provides no coverage for brand name drugs, so that's why nothing is covered. I could switch, but my rate would go way up since this is a plan I've had since I was 18 and doesn't exist any more.
