I was a c-section & have UC, asthma & allergies.

My mother had asthma among other things, not sure of anyone having IBD in the family. Obviously i was already pre-disposed to autoimmune issues but i wonder if a combination of things made it a little worse?

Who knows......im not one for trying to figure this out, it is what it is. But i did find the article interesting as we're trying to start a family - It will certainly motivate me to push :)

I saw something similar to this. the report also showed that children who only had formula had different gut bacteria.

A vaginal birth will be better for you as well. Recovery from a c-sec is MUCH longer and more painful than recovery from vaginal birth. You can do it! ;)

My first and second child were 10 years apart, first child vaginal, second C-section. First child breast fed, second formula fed. First child is sicker by far than my second, she has IBD and asthma plus a myriad of other concerns. My second child, has no problems at all. My first pregnancy was fine other than morning sickness thru the whole pregnancy and my second was a horrific pregnancy.

This is not a on size fits all kind of deal.

That's interesting, but it's not changing my mind about having a c-section with this baby. Because I have a fistula (which is not thought to be related to my UC) and have scar tissue, etc. associated with it, my colorectal surgeon advised me to have one, because if I tear even a little bit, I could be fecally incontinent.

My son was born vaginally, but I was only able to breastfeed him for 8 weeks until I lost my supply because I was so sick with my first UC flare. Hopefully I'll be able to breastfeed this baby longer.

Also, I was a vaginal birth and was breastfed until I was about 18 months old.

Definitely not a one size fits all. I was a vaginal birth and I'm an AI mess. Both my children were vaginal, my son was a very unhealthy child. He was sick constantly and has allergies and asthma. He didn't actually start getting healthy again until he hit his teens. My daughter hardly gets sick but has severe allergies and carries an Epi-pen.

I was a vaginally born baby and breast fed until one and a half yrs old.
