Anyone??

I know I've posted before but has anyone who uses pentasa enemas get acne! I've got it so bad and it's painful and in places I've never had it before. Usually my acne was one here and there, never more than three at once, even though they were cystic type. Now they are on my back, my neck, never ever had them on my neck. They are blind and painful. My glands are swollen in my neck. Im limited by my options on treatment knowing what I know now /: I'm so embarrassed by them at my age..

When my naturopath first put me on my diet I got pimples and lots of flem I coughed up and I am not a smoker I think my body was being detoxes by both the supplements and the diet which took awhile but in the end my skin cleared up I lost some weight and all my friends said I looked great. may be it is cleansing you or may be it is a horrible side affect in your case I don't know. When I was on my enemas I had awful side affect and it did not do much for my UC I was in continued flare up it was a very challenging and unhappy time. Good luck I hope you get there

I've had bouts of "acne" all my life.

But...hormones usually drive it. Age changes it, sometimes worse, sometimes better. Skin changes, specific needs change, sebum production changes, natural exfolliation slows.

Products for antiaging can increase sebum production, so those are what you want to NOT add...learned that over the years.

Food intake that can rev up oil production can also increase zits as well as exercise, stress, meds, food, supplements, some make-up and cleansing products, etc.

No, I wouldn't say it's the Pentasa, especially at 1000mg daily....there are many other variables in the mix as well.

What I've found is a good wash, exfolliating, and moisture regimen. This is the best my skin has been for a long time....

My regimen now:

Simple brand cleansing cloths, Simple brand cleansing wash using buffing cleansing pads (from Sally's), no toners, Simple brand Moisturiser, Simple brand Night cream. Murad BHA/AHA exfolliator in the morning. Murad Night Glycolic acid lotion as needed.
Clean & Clear Salicylic gel, Persa Gel Benzol Peroxide as needed, etc.

At since age 54, I've now got seborrhic hyperplasia, milia and have had seborrhea keratosis for about 30 years...controlled pretty well now. phew!

OK, but you've also been on Pred and immuno meds. It cannot only be the mesalamine...big picture here.

And, I can guarantee you'll have it pop up throughout your life.

Acne isn't only a teen issue, which sucks to realise.

I feel so young dealing with zits at 58 and still washing/treating (and bathroom surgery) as such.

Petah, trying a cleanser and dealing with the acne sounds alot better thatn risking a flare up. I dont used soap on my face never have do used an exfoliating face wash ocassionally but not all the time as it strips my face of all the natural balance. I would try a loafer and a different soap or deep cleanser on my back if I was you. :)

Petah you should contact my naturopath [email protected] maybe she could help she helped me get into remission even just to make sure you are not mixing the wrong things and making it worse. :)
