What is your treatment history? I really don't like what you have written so far. It sounds like they only gave prednisone before and that's it, which was a stupid idea because prednisone is not a cure, only a short term solution. It can put you into remission but it cannot keep you there unless you stay on it, which is a bad idea in itself. You need something like the Asacol or 6mp to keep you into remission after the prednisone is tapered off but you shouldn't need both. If they gave you these things before but discontinued that was stupid also. Once you attain remission you need to stay on something forever in order to stay in remission because if you don't the UC will come back and it is usually harder and harder to treat every time it comes back. It seems a little crazy to me that they put you on entocort, asacol, 6mp, and allopurinol all at the same time. That seems like a little overkill to me. How would they know what is working and what is not and what to keep you on and what not to keep you on? Having said that you haven't given the meds enough chance yet. What are your current symptoms? From what you have written so far I really disagree with your doctor's treatment plan.
