I Love my flagyl and Cipro Combo right now! Diarreah all gone!

This is the best I've felt in a LONG time! No more diarreah,blood, gas or leaking of my butt... it's all good now! I'm sleeping through the night. I can actually wear just underwear, not underwear and fricken pad!  I hope it continues when I get off them! I've had no problems with them at all! Just wanted to share, I'm getting a huge break from my UC using this combo right now! Yeah!

That's so great. I remember you tried antibiotics in the past. You never had this much improvement with other antibiotics if I remember correctly. I wonder why it's helping so much right now? I guess it doesn't really matter why, I am just thankful you're getting a break.

Can you stay on them? Maybe do a longer course at the max dose and simultaneously mega dose on probiotics. I know a few people who went into remission with this combo and did that. Glad it's working for you.

Wow... Ive been wanting to get back on flagyl, but have heard bad things about cipro.... Mind sharing your doses and durations?

It really is crazy how different this disease is for everyone. I have been on Flagyl for about a week now for C Diff. While it does seem to have cut back on the more frequent, watery D and fevers I was having from the infection....I am right where I was as far as my normal UC flare symptoms are concerned. I would give ANYthing to sleep more than 2 hours in a row....it has been so long. Glad to hear antibiotics are helping some of y'all. I hope to find what helps me soon, or just get surgery! :)

Give a read through of all the side effects of Cipro and Flagyl. I was on high dose Cipro and Flagyl for two months but started to develop neuropathy (tingling in the feet and, more distressingly, a cold feeling behind my eye) and had to get off the Flagyl pretty quickly. I flared TERRIBLY as soon as I decreased the dose even slightly so I know the Flagyl was really helping a lot, but the neuropathy was non-negotiable. It's almost always reversible (mine has pretty much gone away) but you should watch out for it if you're going to be on Flagyl long term.

When I initially flared badly, I went to the GI and they suspected a parasite, so I was put on flagyl. It helped initially.. but just a little. By then, I was scoped, and the parasite test came back negative, so I was put on asacol. Within a month- remission. I tried to wean off of asacol and reflared, and getting back on asacol hasnt done anything. So I suspected the flagyl helped... But it definitely lasted several months. So weird. I want back on it just to see.... But cipro, not so sure.

pluot, I never knew flagyl could give you neuropathy. I've had neuropathy in my left foot since august 2011 when I went in the hospital. I was on prednisone, cipro, flagyl, canasa, 6mp, and remicade at the time. since it's hard to pinpoint which one has caused it, I just assumed it was from prednisone since that drug can cause any side effect. I still have the neuropathy to this day and it's miserable- just a constant numbness/tingling/muscle twitching in my left foot. I've gotten so used to it but I hate it.

can you believe it all changed in one fricken night? I've been in the bathroom all morning! Painful green diarreah but not the liquid I was having and some blood :( this disease sucks!

OH no! Maybe it wasn't the antibiotics at all. Maybe you just had a good day. I hope things improve and that you have MANY good days in the near future.

Cipro and Flagyl put me into complete remission for three months until I started flaring. Did another round and again I went into remission for three months until I flared again. Third time, they barely worked. Went into remission for about a week and that was it. Been using Spinach/Sunbutter High fatty acid diet ever since to keep things under control. I may try the triple antibiotic therapy next, although I'm not sure how much different it is from the Cipro/Flagyl. I have to think about it, doing alright with the diet.

Did you supplement with probiotics during and after the course in antibiotics?

Hi All! Another great day can you believe it or a good morning should I say. You know I'm connecting it with the SUPER critical care by Renew life, they are expensive probiotics but well worth it. They are high in Bifidolactbillus, great for the large intestine. When I go to the bathroom in the morning the day after I take it, I "clean out" and then I don't run back and forth back and forth and no blood! The mush stool goes into clear water and not like the brown cess pool I was looking at.

Yesterday was horrible and after I took a packet I felt so good, about a hour later maybe less. I'm going to stick with it and see how I do the next few days. I only have two flagly left then I'm done with all my antibiotics.

I hope I feel this good after stopping the them and just doing my super critical care :) I'll let you know!

I tried Cipro and Flagyl last night. I had bad side effects. Lost feeling/numbness on my entire left side of the body and had shortness of breath. The good thing though is that I feel like I don't have UC atm. No urgency, diarrhea, or pain.

too my last flagyl and tomorrow will be my first day off antibiotics. I'm glad because I was starting to feel really bloated and back ache on them. We'll see in a week or so how I'm doing

linda, i've been having horrible backaches, too. how weird- i've never had them before. i'm still on vancomycin but today is day 14- my last day. i've had to have a heating pad on my back where my liver is. it's just throbbing and sore.

I'm not sure where the liver is from the back, but the pain I was having is lower than my shoulder blades right side and I was crying last night. It started at 2 30 am the night before it started at 5 30 am I elevated my top part of my body with two pillows and did much better.

Hopefully tonight, not taking my evening dose I'll do much better.

How are you otherwise?
