What does "Healed Colon" mean ??

I got a sigflex a couple of days ago to see the condition my colon is now in. On my release papers it stated, that my "colon is healed" but that I also have internal hemroids. Does this mean I'm in remission?? I still have yet to talk to my doctor , I will talk to him Monday. If so, wow! It took exactly a year to reach health and remission, though I still do struggle with urgency :( but that could be IBS issues. What are your thoughts? I hope everyone is doing as well as possible. xoxo

Doctor also diagnosed me with IBS. Personally I think it is a load of crap. IBS is a made up diagnosis. I haven't had a sigflex but I bet I would get the same results (and current symptoms) as you. I don't believe there is such a thing as IBS with IBD. I think that whatever gave us UC is still there giving us problems even if it isn't visible in a scope. I don't consider myself in remission with frequency and urgency. I don't give a daamn what the doctor says. Sorry, but if you're having problems, you're having problems. It's still good that your scope is clean though.

Sierratrinity: Thats great news! Congrats! Can I bother you with a few questions?

1. How many bowel movements you had a year ago and how many do you have now? 2. What was the extent of your UC (ie sigmoid, descending, pan)? 3. What medications have been through the year? 4. Did you have any mucosa present in the affected part in your first colonoscopy? If not, do you plan to get a colonscopy to find out if you have actually achieved a "healed mucosa" and thus clinical remission?

Sorry with all those questions. But if you could answer them they would mean a lot, especially to me!

I'm not even sure there really is something that is "IBS", in anyone. I am starting to believe more and more that the whole thing is just a made up disease. Even though there is no known cause or cure for UC doctors can at least tell us what it is. Your symptoms are due to a messed up immune system which attacks your colon or something in your colon, causing inflammation, which in turn, gives you the symptoms you are having. It can be tested for and diagnosed off the tests. IBS has no tests to diagnose it and the doctors, websites, etc can't even tell you what it is. All they can do is say that if you are having these symptoms and they can't figure out what is causing it, then you have IBS. I am beginning to believe that ALL cases of IBS are really very mild cases of IBD which don't have any visible signs.
