Hello All,

Recently on February 14th I just started new medication which includes 6mp and allopurinol ( 50 mg ) each. My husband and my oldest daughter were sick this week with a stomach bug. It looks like I got it last night. I have not been able to keep anything down including my medication. Do you think I should go to the ER? I also have a fever of 100 and afraid to take tylenol for it. Thanks so much!

Yes, I spoke with doctor on call which wasn't my doctor. He said that it doesn't think it is my colitis. I have never had this problem with my UC though and I have had UC for 8 years. I have a feeling it may be the new medications.

My doctor has always told me that Tylenol is ok to take. It sounds like you caught the bug from your husband and daughter. Don't rule out the new medication as the cause until you feel better from the stomach bug.

I thought you were wondering if you caught your husband's and daughter's stomach bug? Why are you afraid to take tylenol for your fever? That's the one pain med/fever reducer that you can take.

Take the tylenol for your fever which luckily isn't real high. If its anything like the stomach bugs around here the worst of it will be over quickly. Missing a day of meds shouldn't send you into a tailspin. I've missed a day of meds here and there with no ill effect.

Thanks all. I will take the tylenol. I still have not been able to keep anything down all day. I appreciate all of your replies.

My daughter had a bug like that earlier in the year. She couldn't keep anything down for almost 36 hours. We took her to urgent care and they gave her some anti nausea med that we couldn't get her to take. She got home and within an hour started to feel better and wanted to drink ginger ale and kept it down. Woke up the next day fine. These stupid bugs come on real quick and seem to leave the same way.

Try some ginger ale if you have it. Little sips. The ginger sometimes helps.
