Going to have a redo on a tattoo that I hate. Do ya think being on Humira will affect the healing process. Booked the appointment to have it done . Never gave it a thought till now. Any thoughts ?????
Thanks

I wouldn't think so unless of course you decide to smoosh some germ filled gunk all over it. ;) Just take care of it the way you are supposed to and you should be fine but of course keep an eye on it just in case so if it starts looking wonky you can have it looked at.
My son used vitamin A & D ointment and barely even had any of the peeling from it healing.

Humira makes you more susceptible to infection but that doesn't mean you will get one.

Hate the one I have now! It's a dream catcher. More like a nightmare catcher. I guess I'll have to be careful. Doing a total redo. Hope I liked what I picked. You need someone really good to cover what you have. It's a really clean place!!!!!!

I wouldn't worry about
it. If done right, I would think it would be no worse than dental work.

Faithmac, a young woman in my yoga class had a tattoo of a dreamcatcher that went from her shoulder to her wrist. I thought she must have gone to UC Santa Cruz, and I felt bad for her. Then today I saw this photo of Miley Cyrus that clearly shows her dreamcatcher tattoo and now I feel even more sorry for my classmate.

Don't get me wrong, I love tattoo work and have quite a bit of it myself. It's just that dreamcatchers are a picture that is worth 10,000 words. LOL

Janey47, mine is not that big. It's on my upper biceps . Should have gotten it somewhere else. I like dreamcatchers. Just not on my arm. I'm covering it with a lotus flower with a dragon fly on top. Not much bigger. Hope I like what I picked. Get to see her drawing on Tuesday.

Just remove all the tattoos and everything will be fine.

Especially if they're the paw prints of a dog you love.

Oh removal can cost a couple grand and is painful. Not to mention much higher risk of infection.

I'm going with the redo! Needed something that would be a good coverup. Flowers are good for that. More feminine then a dreamcatcher . :)

I hate tattoos, I don't have any, and don't plan on having either. There's always a tendency to regret them in the long run, and after decades, they become faded.

I have two tattoos, both of them was when I was on 6mp. They took a little longer to heal but other than that they turned out beautifully :)
I really want another one but I'm not sure what. I have one on my ankle of a butterfly and one on my shoulder, two butterflies with a purple streamer on one of it's tail. Butterflies signify to me, that you turn something ugly into something beautiful - meaning that Uc is an ugly disease but it turned beautiful because it gave more meaning to my life (such as patience, compassion, understanding, acceptance etc). The purple ribbon off the tail of one of my butterflies is the symbol for hidden diseases.
I am a firm believer that if you want a tattoo, or even to cover one up, that they should have meaning.

Your tattoos sound beautiful. I did do a little research on the lotus flower. A blue one signifies wisdom. A purple one is considered the mystical lotus. Revealing the heart. In order to cover what I have now it can't be light in color. Blue and purple would be the colors I would pick. I could use some wisdom this time around. The dragonfly not sure of the meaning. Do not want to make a mistake this time.i really want to love this one. Im letting the tattoo artist do a rendering of what I want. I see it tuesday . She's a great artist.

Renewal and power of life! Hum like the combo....if she listens and doesn't make it too much bigger then the one I have now I'll be very happy. If it heals a little slower that's ok !

Whatever you choose, make sure it means something special to you :) I've seen friends of mine choose tattoos only to regret it later...it was something usually frivolous. But when they went back to cover it up, it meant something to them. This is permanent body work....perhaps something that will be on your body when you have grand kids that you have to explain to. So make it worth their while when they ask :)

Already had the tat regret. I had an outer body experience when I picked the last one. My mind was somewhere else. Got home and said oh sh......t what did I do. Not this time!

All of my digestive problems started from a tattoo that didn't heal then got infected with staph and consequently put me on massive doses of broad-spectrum abx. I now have severe gut dysbiosis. Be very careful!

You should be fine. I'm a tattoo artist & heavily tattooed. I've never had any problem with my tattoos healing while on 6mp or remicade. The fastest way for a tattoo to heal is to just keep it clean. Wash it with soap a few times a day & keep it out of the sun. I use aquaphor on them for the first couple days, not a lot, just a little bit a couple times a day. After it starts pealing you can use light amounts of fragrance free lotion, but overall keeping them dry lets them heal and breath.
