Gary i agree. I mean look at all the stuff on our signatures!! My dad used to say (when he was alive) I was "grabbing at straws."

I think all of us try to hold on to things we think are working and are even superstitious about some things. I remember once wanting to take the huge risk (gasp) of stopping everything. It's probably not as risky as it sounds but I'm not trying to encourage it.

I remember once applying hot oil (I think it was Wesson) on a cloth and leaving it on my stomach area. This was suggested by a Naturopathic physician. Ohhhh the things we do!! LOL

And they're expensive, and time consuming (at least Remicade is), and you have to do the labs, and you get your hopes up...

Yay! Speaking of labs, I just got my order for PROMETHEUS Anser IFX in the mail!

Gee, I can't wait to get back to the infusion center...

stealth guardian: in answer to your question how did i know i was in remission?

well my flareup on max dose lialda and daily roawas was still about 6 bms extreme urgency and blood and mucus

on imuran: blood and mucus gone and urgency very very mild.... bms decreased to about 2-4

I can't imagine not doing anything, I would have not been able to leave the house. Can't know if I would have ended up getting so bad to need hospitilization or surgery. I came close to needingg surgery in the early years, but then my GI got me some asacol in a study before it was approved.

So Tornado you are doing remicade from now on??
I hope you would be ok, no side effects. Please keep us updated!
John, Gary, our signatres...oh well its a list of dangerous meds.
I know some people even get diabetic from steroid...that would really suck if I get diabetic from steroid...yeah.

I sometimes think surgery is better than suffering by taking tons of harmful meds...but that is supposed to be the last resort. I am even thinking alternative medicine (currently looking into Chinese medicine and clay, maybe aloe that might work...), things we go above and beyond for the possible cure. Yeah.

The AnserIFX is being drawn Thursday. I should know Monday/Tuesday if I have any Remicade left in my system and if I have antibodies.

She was going to continue to support the Imuran if it is ok.

I personally don't think Remicade has done anything over six months.

Many here who fail pred and immunosuppressants try the triple antibiotic therapy or a combo of flagyl and cipro as a last resort before surgery. I haven't tried it myself but i did other things (see my sig).
