The day after a Remicade infusion

This month my UC hit me hard with a vengeance! I usually start feeling icky again about a week before my next infusion but I waited 2 extra days this time around. Every time I ate I would run to the bathroom to expel mucous and D (no blood thank goodness!). I was going about 10 times a day. And the cramping was horrible. But I had my Remi yesterday and today - nothing!

While I'm relieved to be feeling better already, I just find it odd to go to one extreme to another. I think it's also because I get Solumedrol with my infusions, that's why I feel better so fast. I know my body will right itself, but I was just curious if anyone else have the same results.

I usually feel better the day after and I also get the run down about a week before. I am having issues since my last infusion and just hope the Remi is still working, I am hoping to switch to 6 weeks between infusions and I think it will help improve things. I really wish my doc was more into moving people to less then 8 weeks, he just has concerns about decreasing the time between doses.

Are you still on 8 week intervals? Have you talked to your doc about decreasing? Even a week would be helpful, I don't like it when I am unable to get in on the 8 week day and end up having to come in even a day late.

I get my Remi every 8 weeks aswell. I to flare again after 5-6 weeks. I find the next day I am Already feeling sooo much better. Right Now I am on week 3 after getting remi and feeling amazing still (which is not common) My GI told me that it should work for longer then it has been and was thinking of switching me to Humria but I don't know if I wanna switch. I would like to also get it every 6 weeks but not sure if I can get it covered?

I've been having the opposite problem the last two times. The first week, I feel kind of off and a little achy. The second week, it's urgency, multiple trips to the toilet, explosive diarrhea, incomplete emptying, and this time around, blood. The third week, everything calms down, and then it starts to wear off around the sixth week, but my only real symptom then is joint pain.

I say real symptom because I only had formed stools the first couple of weeks with Remicade.

I'm on it mostly for the joint pain, but it doesn't seem to be controlling the UC very well.

On the upside, I used to have this stubborn dermatitis on one of my fingers. It went away the day after my first infusion. It comes back around the seventh week, and goes away immediately after the infusion. Strange.

got the call from my hospital! first infusion monday @ 1:15. was really hoping today or tomorrow but monday will have to do!
