Anyone using a drug called "Uceris"

Just heard about this drug and was wondering if anyone was using it and what information regarding its results might you share... Thank you

Hello & Welcome. There is a ton of information lately about people using Uceris. If you search in the google box on the top right of the forum main page, you will find great information. The general opinion seems to be very positive. It's a steroid that works specifically in the colon. I have seen people post studies that show less than stellar results as far as remission goes but it seem to alleviate symptoms without pred side effects, that can be a miracle when you need it.

Just posted my current experience after 2 weeks on it on another thread For me, I'd say it has the therapeutic effects equivalent to high dose prednisone, which for me knocks out UC in its tracks for the duration of being on the med. I can definitely feel and see systemic effects,but they are not the same as high dose pred- side effects look (face puffiness) and feel to me like the equivalent of around 10 mg pred. No insomnia at all though.

I asked the question because my doc has me on 40 mg of ped'zone for 2 weeks and then 20 mg for 2 weeks and then down to 10 mg for a week and off of it... that will usually make the flaire go away and then I just do Asicol for 4800 mg a day for ever and ever......... or until a flair comes back, wish I knew what makes them come back, life would be a lot better

I just started it last week after having 3 months of relapse that I couldn't get under control in natural ways. So far, I'm a bit better, but it keeps me awake at night. And I'm exhausted already so, that's not so helpful. I'm happy that it's not Prednisone and that there shouldn't be horrible side effects.

I started Uceris two weeks ago after being in a flare for a two months that I couldn't get under control with food mods and Entocort. I absolutely hate the side effects of pred so I urged my doctor to let me try Uceris before I took the route of pred.
So far I have noticed some improvements. It has helped the urgency and I have had no blood (until yesterday, I had a little bit. grrr). But I still have D and bloating. Its helped a bit i suppose. And, I don't have any of the bad side effects like from pred, except I did have a headache the first 5 days I took it, but nothing compared to pred for me.

It's my 4th day of Uceris today. I'm still on pred as well (tapering). So far so good.
