prednisone/6mp moonface and other side effects

Sure it's been covered here before but when does the moonface go away?  Do you have to be off Pred for a long time?  It will go away right?  Also how do you ladies deal with the facial hair thing?  I don't want to do anything to make it grow in more after I'm off the Prednisone but I'm noticing some more than I'd like to see :(  Wow I feel ugly.

Also am losing hair I guess because of 6mp.  Does that stop eventually or just keep happening. 

Now on 7.5mg of Prednisone and 75mg 6mp

I didn't start losing the moon face till I was completely off the pred. Within a week or two it was so much better. Hair loss went on for awhile afterwards also. As for hair in weird spots I would just pluck them and now that I have they just grow back. Gotta love it! NOT!

I always attributed the hair loss to prednisone or colazal but my new GI told me that it the stress of the UC itself that makes the hair fall out on your head. The pred makes it grow on your chin! He also said that there can be a 3 month lag time after your colon starts to heal before your hair stops falling out.
BTW I have been going for threading to handle all of my new facial hair. I just stopped taking pred yesterday and over the past week noticed less hair growth and less rubbery, chubby cheeks. Now I just have to fight the fatigue and get to the gym to lose those 25lbs!

I am currently on 20 mg. and have been in between 5-40 mg for 8 months. My hair started falling out about 3 weeks after I first started and then when I decreased to 5-10 mg is stopped. It is falling out again with this higher round. I noticed my moon face going away about a week after I lowered my dose. And I came back really noticeable at about 2 weeks into it now.

I have been dealing with the facial hair since I first was put on Pred. when I was 13 for my liver disease. I was growing facial hair while I was growing breasts--not fun. I grew longer sideburns and a lot of my forehead. It almost looks like a second set of bangs...gave me a very strange hairline. And of course I got the peach fuzz on my upper lip too. My mom helped me try some kind of nair thing that didn't work well. Finally at some point I went into my mom's bathroom, stole her Easy Touch or whatever it is called and started "shaving" some my upper lip. When I was in high school I tried to rework my hairline (I still don't think it looks right) and my longer sideburns.

This time I am growing chin hair and forehead bangs. I was using a some kind of easy touch thing, my boyfriend's electric shaver, and I've tried plucking. It always grows back. I was thinking about trying that No-No thing. I have come to the conclusion that no matter what--it will grow back!!!! And not only do we have facial hair, a moon face, but my skin also looks flushed all the time, and my skin doesn't look to well. I don't have acne but I skin looks like it is sick too.

I have gained and lost weight over and over and right now I feel swollen, fat, and ugly. It's like no matter what you do nothing helps. Even if you don't eat- you gain weight. Even if you put on make up you still have the moon face/facial hair/skin problems. What i hate the most is how I go places and see people I know, but they don't know what is going on with me medically; so I just look like I'm fat and have let myself go. Even though I am trying to look like the old me!

There is no winning with Prednisone, but it works, and I would rather be healthy and have side effects than being sick or having something wrong with me.

I've been on predisone just over 4 weeks.
I didn't realise I had all of this to look forward to.
I don't think I've looked in the mirror for a few weeks.

Interesting reading about the thyroid. I have a wonky one of those too. My hair fell out like a crazy thing until I was diagnosed last June and it's only just come back!!
